Introducing… Dragon Medical Practice Edition!
Dragon Medical Practice Edition (DMPE) is the latest member of the Dragon Medical family and is designed and priced for smaller practices—24 physicians or less. Now clinicians – including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other care providers – can effectively navigate and dictate medical decision-making and treatment plans directly into a patient's electronic record. DMPE allows clinicians to use a narrative format to dictate elements of the patient encounter in their own words, including: History of Present Illness, Review of Systems, Physical Examination, and Assessment and Plan.
KEY FEATURES INCLUDE
DRAGON MEDICAL PRACTICE EDITION VERSUS Zephyr-TEC is often asked, "Why should I purchase the more expensive medical version? Why can't I just purchase the Professional version?" While Dragon Professional Version 11 provides excellent recognition for "general-purpose" business and home use, tests show DMPE to be 33% more accurate than Professional for dictating patient records. This translates into savings of thousands of dollars (or more) over a year spent correcting mistakes and adding medical terminology. Furthermore, DMPE protects sensitive and confidential patient information by supporting encrypted network file storage of speech files, helping your organization satisfy HIPAA privacy and confidentially guidelines. Of course with the release of DMPE, clinicians now also take advantage of the enhanced features that have been available to Dragon Version 11 Professional and Legal users over the last year. Here are just a couple of examples… Dragon Sidebar – Dragon's new Sidebar allows users to discover and remember useful commands and tips. Its contents change depending on what window is currently active. The "MyCommands" tab in the Sidebar displays user added commands and can be printed - a wonderful new addition for doctors with many custom voice commands. Multiple Matches – When you select, correct, edit or format a word or phrase and there are multiple matches smattered throughout your document, DMPE will display a number next to each match. If your document has multiple instances of, for example, the word: osteophyte, simply say, "select osteophyte" and DMPE will number each match, allowing you to quickly choose the one you want.
The multiple match feature also works with commands to capitalize, insert the cursor, cut, copy, delete, and format text. For many of the multiple match commands, one or all instances of the word or phrase can be chosen. In the example below, say, "capitalize cervical" to number the matches.
Say, "Choose All" to capitalize instances of cervical.

The PowerMic II allows Dragon Medical users to program a PowerMic button to a Dragon command. For example, the hard to say command that removes any leftover bracket sets from Dragon voice templates: "clear variable delimiters." The easiest way to program a PowerMic button to a command is to first say the command to Dragon. Open Dragon's Options. On the Dragon bar, choose: Tools > Options > PowerMic II.
Click on the droplist next to the button you wish to assign the command to. Choose: User Commands and then click on the command showing in the list. Alternately, choose: Specify and type in the name of the command being sure to use the correct spelling and capitalization.
